This once divided villa in the seaside village of Elie, Fife, is now a single, light-filled home for modern family living.
Elie House Reimagined: Victorian Elegance with Contemporary Additions
The Elie House project skillfully merges Victorian architecture with contemporary extensions, transforming a once divided villa into a cohesive, modern family home. This Victorian villa had been historically sub-divided into two flats and the owners wanted to restore it as a single house. Side and rear extensions were added and the ground floor was remodelled to improve the layout.
The new zinc roofed rear extension followed the hipped pyramid form of the existing extension, with generous rooflights to flood the spaces with natural light.
Energy efficiency improvements were carried out wherever possible, including insulating the roof, part of the walls, all of the floors and upgrading windows with double glazing and draft seals.
